Do I have to pass my Theory Test before taking driving lessons?

You can take driving lessons at any point providing you have a valid provisional driving licence and have reached 17 years of age.

 

 

Can I apply for my Driving test and Theory test at the same time?

No, you must first pass the Theory test before applying for the Practical test.

 

 

What do I have to do in the Theory test?

The Theory Test comprises of two parts. The multiple choice section and Hazard Perception section.

The multiple choice section there are 50 questions on driving and other motoring matters. You must score 42 to pass.

The hazard perception section there are 14 clips showing you driving scenes. You must identify hazards by clicking on the mouse or enter button. You are marked on how quickly you recognise the hazards.

The Driving Test now includes the Independent Driving part. You will be given two sets of directions to follow withing the Driving Test.
